Chionodoxa luciliae alba originates from Western Turkey. It is named luciliae in honour of Lucile Boissier, wife of the Swiss botanist Pierre Edmond Boissier who lived in the 19th century.
Each bulb produces 2 or 3 narrow leaves and a straight stem crowned by loose bunches of 2 or 3 pure white star-shaped little flowers.They multiply easily, and if you plant them in large drifts, bees will have an ample supply of food. Bees will always find your chionodoxa, even if planted in a border or pot.
