The full name is Tulipa Clusianana var chrysantha, which comes from the Greek words chrysos and anthos meaning golden flower making it a real treasure. This tulip is also known as Golden Lady. The little golden yellow flowers stay closed when it is dark, showing the distinctive red colour of the outer side of the petals. On sunny days the flower opens up and changes into a shining golden yellow star. It stands on an exquisite stem surrounded by blueish green foliage. Tulipa Clusiana is a botanical tulip. Botanical tulips are a food source for bees, bumblebees and butterflies. This little elegant flower prefers a dry and warm place in the garden, in a pot, a rock garden or border. If planted in large numbers on a lawn, you can enjoy the playful display in early spring. You can cut off the stem after flowering but keep the foliage intact so that you can enjoy this elegant Golden Lady year after year.
