Hyacinths grow from a rosette of leaves at the base of the plant. This lovely scented pastel purple variety has solid brownish red stems. Each bloom is a cluster of beautiful, star-shaped little flowers with a darker shade of purple in the centre. They should be planted in well-drained fertile soil in the garden or in a pot. In the 17th century the Hyacinth already was a fashionable flower, and today it still is a favourite decoration in homes and gardens.
