Uva is Latin for grape, vulpis is latin for fox. The fox's grape fritillary originates from Turkey, Iraq, and Iran. This strong flower has long glossy leaves with a blueish shade. The top of the slender stem is bent and deep purple bell-shaped flowers with golden yellow rims that hang from it, almost like little grapes. When open, the little flowers reveal a beautiful yellow heart decorated with tiny black veins. Fritillaria Uva Vulpis generously shares its nectar with bees and bumblebees. This little mysterious flower is suitable for rock gardens and borders, but it is also lovely in pots where the subtle elegance can be admired at close quarters. It likes a moist, well-drained soil, and the bulbs should not be too wet. However, they are very sensitive to dehydration. So if you receive your bulbs, it is best to plant them as soon as possible.
