€ 3.95

Chionodoxa forbesii is the botanical name, coming from the Greek chion, snow and doxa, glory. It is also named after the botanist James Forbes (1773-1861), who was gardener for the Duke of Bedford at Woburn Abbey. Glory of the Snow flowers very early in spring sometimes, you can see the flower heads popping out of the melting snow. This large-flowered plant multiplies easily and is very popular among bees. Each bulb produces 2 or 3 narrow leaves and a stem that is crowned by a bunch of up to 10 little flowers. The dark green stem contrasts the intense blue of the star shaped flowers formed by six petals and a bright white heart. To achieve a stunning effect, plant them in large drifts, or let them shine in a border or in a pot.
