Hyacinths originate from the Mediterranean. This soft blue variety has a lovely fragrance and is a bees' favourite. Lots of shining flower buds are attached to the upper part of the short stems. The lower part is surrounded by straight bright green ensiform leaves. Hyacinths do very well in a group on well-drained and fertile soil, but as a single potted plant, they are equally decorative. Plant them near your house or alongside a path, so that you can enjoy their colour and scent in mid-season for up to three weeks. Together with white hyacinths, they form an elegant combination.
